"Will rehab make my son  worse?"
Asked by HopetrackerA3 Seen by 187
My friend sent her son to rehab for an addiction to pain meds, and when he came back home, he overdosed on heroin within two days. She says he never even touched heroin before he got there. Is it possible that her son was exposed to other drugs while he was in rehab, or did he just reach for the first drug he could find when he got out? I’m currently considering treatment centers for my son, but I am worried that if I send him to rehab, the same thing will happen. Is this common? Click here to report this post as inappropriate. flag

Addiction is progressive, and if it goes untreated, it will escalate to other substances that are readily available. Going to treatment will offer him the support and education that he needs to get sober, and it will give him the opportunity to make the choice for himself. Do your homework and find an accredited facility that is registered with the state. Ask questions and if possible, go for a tour to see what to expect moving forward.
