"Why can't I talk to my son in treatment when I'm the one paying?"
Asked by HopetrackerA3 Seen by 182
I thought I would be able to talk to my son while he was in treatment, but his therapist is telling me that he needs to take some time away from me. I am paying for his treatment so I feel that I should be able to talk to my son whenever I want. I just want to make sure he is doing what he needs to be doing to get sober. How could just talking to him be a bad thing? Click here to report this post as inappropriate. flag

The therapist is an addiction professional and even though it's uncomfortable, trust the process. When the time is right, you will be invited to join. Know he is safe, and this is the time for you to focus on yourself. Addiction is a family issue, and it has affected you as well, so it's important for you and the rest of the family to seek support for yourselves.
