Should I be drug testing my child?
My son came home last week after 30-days in rehab. He seems to be doing really well. He goes to meetings every week, and he talks to a therapist daily. He’s like the son I remember before this all started. My question is, is this too good to be true? Should I be testing him even though it appears that he’s doing well? I’m petrified that he’s going to relapse without me noticing.
Kelly M I told my daughter that as long as she lived under my roof, she had to agree to them until I felt that the trust was earned back. The moment she refused, I knew she had relapsed but at least I knew right away
Olivia K You absolutely have a right to drug test your child. If he is seeing a therapist daily, communicate with them both and develop a schedule that you all agree on. It is common in intensive outpatient programs to text randomly 3x a week as this helps hold the recovering person accountable and addresses relapses immediately should they occur.
